YUP, A NEW DESIGN IS HERE

With a new glass back, a new 12-megapixel sensor on the iPhone 8 that is larger, faster, and finally has optical image stabilization, Apple is touting the iPhone 8 as the first smartphone designed for augmented reality, with cameras calibrated for AR and better motion tracking.

APPLE’S NEW CAMERA WILL SCAN YOUR FACE

The iPhone 8 still has a single camera while the 8 Plus has a double camera. It’s new “Face ID” feature will allow you to unlock your phone.

IT COSTS $699 (BEFORE TAX!)

The iPhone 8 will start at $699 for a 64GB model, while the 8 Plus will start at $799 for 64GB of storage. Both models will also have larger 256GB models, for an undisclosed price.

IT COMES IN FANCY NEW COLORS

It comes in silver, space grey and a new gold finish that looks like a mix between gold and rose gold.

IT CHARGES WIRELESSLY

One of the biggest internal changes: inductive wireless charging, which wouldn’t have worked through the aluminum shell of the old model.

IT COMES WITH A CHANGED UP TOUCH ID SYSTEM

It’s been replaced with “Face ID”. Seven separate sensors are packed into that little band at the top, and it’s how the company hopes to overcome flaws with previous face unlock systems. It also works at night.

IT’S SHIPPING SOONER THAN YOU THOUGHT IT WOULD

Both phones will be available for pre-order starting Friday, September 15th, with a release date a week later on September 22nd.

THERE’S STILL NO HEADPHONE JACK

Like the iPhone 7 and 7s, there’s still no 3.5mm headphone jack.
